One of the standout events in the SASW lineup is the Startup Bootcamp, a monthly weekend program proudly sponsored by Bexar County and hosted by Geekdom. If you’ve ever dreamt of launching your own company, this is your chance to take a giant leap forward.

The Essentials of Startup Bootcamp

Startup Bootcamp is a three-day program that delves deep into the core principles of entrepreneurship. It’s designed to be an immersive, hands-on experience that equips participants with the knowledge and skills they need to transform their startup concepts into reality.

Day 1: Setting the Foundation

The journey begins on Friday evening at 6 pm when attendees gather at Geekdom, located at 110 East Houston Street, 5th Floor, San Antonio, TX. This initial meetup serves as both a networking opportunity and a chance to fuel up with some delicious food. As the sun sets, participants dive into the core concepts of business planning through the “Lean Canvas” approach. The “scientific method” to business planning; it helps participants lay the groundwork for their startup visions. Additionally, they craft their elevator pitches, setting the stage for the exciting weekend ahead.

Day 2: Building Skills and Connections

Saturday kicks off at 9:30 am with a check-in, ensuring everyone is ready to dive into a full day of entrepreneurial growth. The day’s agenda is jam-packed with workshops and mentorship sessions. It starts with the “What’s Your Problem” workshop, where participants learn to identify and address the key challenges their startup aims to solve. Following a hearty lunch, the focus shifts to customer validation, a critical aspect of any successful venture. The afternoon is devoted to mentorship, providing valuable insights and guidance.

The day doesn’t end there; after dinner, participants get an introduction to the art of pitching, a crucial skill for any entrepreneur.

Day 3: Pitch Perfect

The final day of Startup Bootcamp begins with another 9:30 am check-in. Participants delve into advanced pitch workshops, perfecting their ability to present their startup ideas effectively. After lunch, it’s time for pitch practice, honing their skills and refining their delivery. The day concludes with more mentorship sessions, ensuring that everyone leaves with a clear game plan and the knowledge to execute it.

The grand finale is an opportunity for participants to pitch their ideas to mentors, receive feedback, and gain valuable insights. This is the moment when all the hard work and learning culminate, and startup visions begin to take tangible shape.

Transform Your Startup Vision into Reality

As Cristy Lime, Programs Manager at Geekdom, highlights, “It’s awesome to witness the transformation and ‘aha moments’ these early-stage founders have coming through the boot camp, going through the workshops and interacting with mentors – they’re really able to bring their idea to life!”
