Sojourn is the place to be for happy hour during San Antonio Startup Week!
San Antonio’s newest cocktail bar Sojourn Trading Co., located at 244 W. Houston St., is now open in the downtown Zona Cultural district. Craft cocktail veteran Derik Cortez and restaurateur Andrew Carrillo, of Armadillo’s Texas Style Burgers, have partnered to bring a refreshing cocktail bar with cold kitchen eats and modern tropical decor to the west bank of the San Pedro Creek Culture Park.
Sojourn’s cocktails are inspired by cocktail classics and tropical originals like the nostalgic San Antonio “Raspa,” where the crushed ice, fresh fruit juices, and spirits are wrapped in a banana leaf. The drink menu was developed by Cortez himself along with the expertise of Bar Manager, Ricardo Ruiz.
“I wanted to create a space where patrons could escape the everyday hustle and bustle and enter into a tropical retreat at Sojourn,” said Cortez. “I saw the hidden gem of a location on W. Houston Street as an opportunity to transform the space for downtown professionals, students, visitors and service industry workers into a relaxing oasis with quality service, food and drinks.”
The cold food kitchen is helmed by Chef de Cuisine Chef Andrew Izmirlian who was formerly at Bliss and Signature. Menu items include oysters, Crudo, ceviche, crispy tuna bites, and charcuterie, and also feature a panini press for patrons to enjoy the slow-roasted Cubano sandwich. The kitchen is open for late-night eats to accommodate visitors staying in the area and the hospitality industry workers who serve them.
Sojourn is now open Monday through Wednesday, from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. They currently offer happy hour Monday through Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and the kitchen is open during operating hours. There are nearby parking garages, street lots, and meters and Downtown Tuesday continues to offer free parking on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. in city-owned parking facilities.
